It’s important to take note of arcs.Īfter this, we jumped straight into an exercise where we put what we learnt into action. Arcs are important! Arms move in an arc, and the same happens all over the body, from head turns to legs. The arms and legs are opposite- normally, the arms swing in the opposite direction to the legs. The torso is the core- It goes up and down as the person walks, the legs and body don’t change size, they move. With this, you have your basic walk cycle which you can then add inbetweens for. They are two fundamental sketches, which you then reverse, to have the opposite leg on top. We looked at breakdowns of the walk cycle, done by different people, and talked about contact and the passing points. Here is a side view of the running animation cycle with all the rig handles. In today’s class we looked at the functionality of walks, as it’s important to know what happens in a walk, as it is very fundamental. For the final renders I will also use motion blur to give the animation a bit more smoothness. I would say that practice with the walking animation really helped me in the process of creating this. Overall, this first attempt at the running animation is very good and I am pleased with my efforts. At the minute it is still a GIF as I need software at the college to be able to link all the batch renders together. Underneath is a 3/4 angle of my running animation. For this I used the below reference image to help me with the key frames and head positions. Next, I started on creating my running animation cycle. I am very pleased with how this animation has came out and believe it will give me so useful knowledge for future projects. I’ve done this by keeping the elbows high and not a lot of range of motion to show he is big and bulky. ![]() In the animation below I have try to give the appearance that this man walking is very muscle, not from how he look but from the way he walks. I haven’t batched rendered it as I plan on linking it with a running cycle to give a bit more length and variety to the animation sequence. ![]()
